Belvidere Township Mural Flag

The Township Murals were designed and created through the use of original photos by former Belvidere High School Art teacher , Kit Scheidenhelm with the help pf Art teachers Troy Yunk and Missy Minardi and Jeff Spradling of Jeff's Lettering. A number of Belvidere High School Art students also worked on the project.

The Belvidere Township Mural features the Belvidere Park Dam, the Community Building, the Soldier's Monument, and National Sewing Machine Company. The first Belvidere Park DAm was included in the original fifty-five acre tract of land purchased in 1920 by the Belvidere Township Park District. The Community Building was built in 1939 on 1st St. in Belvidere. The Soldier's Monument was erected in 1910 in Big Thunder Park. The National Sewing Machine Company was a focal point of the community from 1886 until operations ended in 1963.
